Nearly a century old, Lane Furniture Industries is a furniture manufacturer, specializing in 18th-century reproductions and cedar chests. Lane home furnishings are sold nationwide through specialty home furnishings retailers (such as Haverty's), as well as department stores (including Dillard's and J. C. Penney). Lane Furniture got its start in 1912 when John Lane and his son Ed began a chest manufacturing venture (incorporated as Standard Red Cedar Chest Company). In 2001 Lane's parent company Furniture Brands International merged reclining chair company Action Industries (originally bought by Lane in 1972) and its Lane Company division into Lane Furniture Industries.
